About The Inventor
S.R. (Sal) Cudnohufsky
Sylvester (Sal) Cudnohufsky
is a proven expert with over 50 years of experience dating back to 1942
when Sal founded Bald Mountain Machine and Engineering in Pontiac,
Michigan. He specialized in custom remanufacturing of agricultural,
industrial and mobile equipment. In 1948 Sal diversified into the
remanufacturing and retooling of lathes, at which time he developed
hydraulic controls providing greater accuracy and quality than was
available in the machine industry at that time.
Sal had many major accounts, a few of which include:
-United States Government (provided defense production turning);
-Chrysler Corporation (remanufactured lathes and performed ordinance work; developed
special machines to produce perfect spheres for satellite program);
-GM Truck & Coach (remanufactured lathes for service parts);
-Rockwell Standard (remanufactured production lathes);
-General Electric (built special lathes to produce parts for the J79 jet
engine program; built special grinding equipment for air foil dies for the
J79 jet);
-Reed Prentice (built all hydraulic controls for their tracer lathe
program with the Ford Motor Co.);
-Ford Motor Co. (remanufactured lathes for production).
In 1961 due to the I-75 expressway construction in Pontiac, Michigan, Sal
was forced to relocate or close his business. At this time, Sal's
expertise was being solicited by Detroit Broach and Machine Company,
located in Rochester, Michigan. Rather than relocate, Sal decided to
close his business and join Detroit Broach and Machine Company.
During Sal's term of employment with Detroit Broach, he initiated their
lathe program, headed up research and development and secured twelve U.S.
patents for hydraulic controls on lathes. Lathe sales increased from
zero to 10 million dollars from 1962 to 1974. All hydraulic tracer
controls presently being used on Detroit Broach lathes were developed by
Sal. From 1975 to 1981 Sal became a consultant for Detroit Broach,
hired to solve critical problems on customer machines.
In 1981 Sal, along with his son, Jerry, started Triple R Hydraulics Inc., a Michigan corporation, started for the sole purpose of developing
Sal's inventions. While Sal developed his patented products, he and his
son Jerry remanufactured over 20 machines and serviced the same. In
addition, TRH serviced Detroit Broach machines for the following
customers: Ford Motor Co., Dana Automotive, General Motors, Chrysler,
Chevrolet, Electromotive and Rockwell International.
At present, Sal is working to sell his latest patent, the TRH-SS, the TRH
R Hydraulics Synchronizing System. It is a patented process
that eliminates chatter on small shafts and on other turning
applications. The TRH-SS can be applied to the CNC as well as
the hydraulic tracing and turning functions. It increases tool life
and doubles the production without increasing surface feet. The
cubic inches of metal removal are increased by 100 percent. Half the
floor space is required using the TRH-SS and the synchronizer does the work
of two machines resulting in a high quality part with a single pass.
Automatic tool wear and size adjustment by the synchronizing system
feeds are infinitely variable; and, finally, the TRH-SS eliminates the
flexing of the part, tail stock and spindle while cutting under tool
pressure equalized tool load does not require a steady rest while
cutting, generating radius, angles and shoulders on most extruded parts. It promises to save
millions in manufacturing costs.
